The Outset And History Of Lai Baptist Church

The Lai Baptist Church in Buffalo City was formed in January 6, 2013 on Sunday. The Church was run with 103 people in its beginning. The Church has been blessed by God year after year, and now standing with 136 members in January 1, 2017. The Church is located at 1225, Brighton Road, Tonawanda, NY 14150.
The Church is run by refugees of Lai tribe, who migrated from Myanmar to Buffalo city. We are the fruits of the American Baptist mission in Chin hill, Myanmar through the hard work of Rev. Arthur Carson & his beautiful wife, Laura. Even though the Church is still small but there are many opportunities to be involved in God’s ministry by its members as follows;

The door of our Church is widely opened for new people, who are interested to worship God along with us. All friends are warmly welcome to participate in our worship services. We have worship services for spiritual exercise & growth as follows:
Sunday worship service at 1: 30 PM to 4:00 PM
Friday Night worship service for women fellowship at 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Saturday Night song practice service for youths fellowship at 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Saturday morning Prayer service at 9:00 – 12:00 PM (The first week of every month), and
Sunday School class for children at 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.

All our members feel our Church as their own home. Please come to join us at our worship services at least once in your days. God bless you all.

Pastor

Rev. Dr. Lian Cung was born on March 20th, 1977 in the small village of Ruabuk, Than Tlang Township, Chin State, Myanmar. After his conversion in Christ, he got the call from God and went to Theological Colleges to prepare himself in the word of God. His biggest plan was to become an effective servant of God in the days to come. By the grace of God, he was really blessed by God wonderfully and graduated with the following degrees as below:

  • B. Th degree in 2000 at Gospel For Asia Bible College, Yan Goon, Myanmar,
  • M. Div degree in 2002 at New Life Theological College & Seminary, India,
  • M. Th degree in 2008 at Tabernacle Baptist Bible College & Seminary, India, and
  • D .Min degree in 2017 at Institute of Church Management, India (by correspondence/distance classes).

He was “an industrious student” while he was young. When he was in High School, he failed his high school’s exam in 1996, but he wrote the exam again and passed his high school in 1999. Wow, how wonderful and how an industrious student he was! He has been working in God’s kingdom in many different fields since 2002. God really did bless him till today. We are really proud of having him as Pastor in Lai Baptist Church, Buffalo. His ministry in many different fields are as follows:

  • 1 year (2002) as Dean of Academics at Victory Bible Institute, Yan Goon, Myanmar,
  • 4 years as Director of Mindon Mission Field under Believers Church, Myanmar,
  • 1 year as Dean of Academics at Gospel for Asia Bible College & Seminary (current name: Believers Bible College & Seminary), Yan Goon, Myanmar,
  • 2 years as Founder & Church Pastor at Klang Meru FGT, Klang Meru, Malaysia,
  • 4 months as Pastor and evangelist at Chin Christians Fellowship, Malaysia, and
  • 8 years as Church Pastor at Lai Baptist Church, Buffalo, NY, USA.

After a year of service at Victory Bible Institute as Academic Dean, he got married with Miss Bawi Sung (Missionary of Mindon Mission Field) in 2003. God blessed them with 3 children, Joseph Bawi (15 years old), Miriam Par (11 years old), and Blessing Par (7 years old). They are a blessed and happy family with love and care. May the good God bless them more to be useful vessels in the days to come too!
